Rights of a Child

Room 15 have just started to look at the Rights of a Child.  They were asked to come up with things that they think each and every child in the world is entitled to... this is what we can up with using padlet.

Feel free to comment below and say something that you think should be included in the list of Children's Human Rights.

Week 2 Update

Room 15 have been learning the ropes of their blogs.

Each week they can share their reading and writing tasks with others in the class.  Check on the side bar to see who is the latest person to update their blog with fantastic writing.

Week 2 Update -

  • Miss B is getting used to the ways of May Road School.  She thinks that Room 15 are pretty amazing although slightly chatty at time.
  • We are meant to be having Wheels Day today but unfortunately it is pouring with rain.  We might have a think about organising a Kauri Team wheels day later in the term so that we can all try out the new track on the field.
  • In maths we have been learning about how subtraction is the inverse of addition.  We are practising using our talk moves and only asking questions if we need to.  Hopefully in the next few weeks we will start posting some of our maths working for you all to see our strategies.
  • Writing has been focused on War and ANZACS.  We read a cool poem called '10 things in a Wizards Pocket' and then created our own poem based on what would be in a soldier or nurse's pocket.  Check them out on our individual blogs and feel free to give use feedback.
  • In reading we have been reading stories about different aspects of war and then retelling the story in our own words.  We have also been learning how to use Google Draw to create diagrams or drawings.  This is a really hard skill because there is no paint tool and you have to layer shapes to create your illustration - we will get better at this throughout the year.
  • Students add a comment below saying one thing that you enjoyed about your learning this week.  Check back for more weekly updates from Room 15.

Blogging in 2017

Task: write an introductory post on your own blog introducing yourself and telling people at least 5 things about you.  Also include a welcoming statement explaining what your blog will be used for and encouraging people to leave your feedback and comments!

This is my 2017 blog and I will be sharing my work on here with you... please feel free to leave me some comments or feedback!

  • I am Waveney and I am the Room 15 teacher at May Road School.  I have been teaching for 11.5 years.
  • My favourite subjects to teach are Maths, Writing and art.  I also like teaching Philosophy for Children which will be new to this school this term.
  • I have a really cool cat called Fyffer.  She is crazy but very loving.  She only drinks water from the tap and I have had her since she was a kitten.
  • My mum is called Lynda and my dad is called Graeme.  I have a sister called Megan and a brother called Michael.
  • My favourite food is Mexican and I like all types of fruit and vegetables! I also love Malteasers!
