Our 3D Printer!

Look out digital world May Road school has a brand new 3D printer! Today was a super day as we received our very own 3D printer. We were very kindly donated our printer by the June Gray Charitable Trust. David from Ricoh came in to teach Andrea and I how to operate the machine and he showed us how to use makerbot! Pretty exciting stuff don't you think?

What would you print if you could design and print anything in 3D!

India

Here are a few snaps from when I was in India! I hiked up in the Himalayas and it was so cold it snowed! Can you spot the bull in the fabric shop? We visited the beautiful Taj Mahal and the river Ganges or as they call it in India the Ganga. The river is very holy and many Indians travel from all over to bath in the water! I was not brave enough to have a bath, but instead made a wish and let it float on the river! Riding the camel was lot's of fun but as you can imagine, I had a very sore bottom the next day!

More photos from Europe are on the way! :)

Digital Learning for Parents!

Digital Learning Workshop for Parents

Next week on Tuesday 4th May we will be offering two workshops for parents of children in the digital classrooms. These workshops are for parents who have not yet attended an initial workshop on using chromebooks, which is a requirement before the children can take them home.

We will also  be offering support for parents accessing their child’s learning on their individual blogs and answering any questions that you might have about digital learning.

We will have two workshops for you to choose from:

3.15pm
6.30pm
Tuesday 4th May

Hope to see you there!

Book Tracks

Today I read a book on book tracks! I read Snow White. It was awesome to read the words while the soundtrack played through my headphones. It made reading the story really exciting!  If you are looking for some great reading online I recommend that you try booktracks!

Create - Name - Move your google docs!

Room 10 have been working on keeping their google drives neat and tidy and let's face it, that can be a tricky thing to do! We made a quick movie reminder of the 3 main things you have to remember when creating a document, naming your document and then moving it to the right folder! Woohoo!

Kan Ban Board

I am loving using the Kan Ban board to prioritise and carry out learning tasks! Today in room 14 we used wevideo to create a news report all about our awesome EOTC week! Each task we needed to complete was a sprint! I gave the class a set time to acheive the task while it was 'in progress'.  We then moved completed tasks to the 'DONE' section! It was a great visual and a good way to keep the kids focussed on the activity.
