Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa!

“Taofi mau i au measina: Hold fast to your treasures” is the 2014 theme for Samoan Language Week. It’s a time to celebrate the rich texture of the Samoan language, Gagana Samoa, and culture through events and celebrations happening throughout the country. The Samoan language is one of the most commonly spoken languages in New Zealand.

What are your treasures?

Our Class Agreement

Room 14’s Classroom Agreement

May Road School

A restorative justice meeting was held in room 14 on Wednesday 8th May 2014

At this conference it was agreed the people in room 14 want to make the learning environment a safe and happy place where everyone enjoys working and learning together.

We have agreed to:

Be friendly to each other
Say nice things and be supportive
Include others in our play and help people with their work
Respect others and their property

It was agreed that if anyone didn’t feel safe and happy or could see someone else isn’t safe and happy that the follow actions could be taken:

When things go wrong we agreed to:

  • ·      Send an email to the teacher to keep her up to date with concerns and what is going     well.
  • ·      Once a week a circle time will be held to discuss any incidents reported.
  • ·      Some people may like to keep a personal journal
  • ·      Use our class attitudes to remind us and practice positive skills.
  • ·      Our teacher can have RJ conversations when conflict happens.
We will practice using skills to help us by:

Using our WITS Walk Away, Ignore, Tell an adult, Stay Calm.

Participating and learning skills through the health programme.
